Remains to be seen consists of a series of contemporary photographs that explore the abandoned painting studio of close relative and WW2 War Artist Alan Moore who last year turned 100. After entering the gates of Bergen- Belsen in 1945, Alan was ordered to take photographs because no one would believe his drawings.
This is not an exhibition celebrating our war history. Instead, Penelope Hunt tries to disentangle the spaces between the real, the imagined, the stories told and the remains left behind. The medium of paint used poetically to explore the inherently evidential and indexical nature of photography. Created over two years, the images explore the weight, both of physical and emotional responses, so often contained within personal artifacts. Paints, both used and pristine, lie around the studio in a palimpsest of time, encrusted tubes becoming a documentation of practice itself.
The images created for Remains to be seen exist in the present whilst exploring fragments of the past, in a studio that has effectively become a Still Life.
Alan Moore sadly passed away at 101 years old. He was one of only two surviving Australian official WW2 artists who witnessed the liberation of the Bergen Belsen concentration camp. Paints, both used and pristine, lay around the studio in a palimpsest of time, encrusted tubes becoming a documentation of practice itself.
Photographed in his now closed up studio, Remains to be seen explores the remnants of a life long painting practice. Concerns surrounding a life lived, dedication to practice and different ways of seeing, both through the medium of paint as well as photography, are explored. The images sensually explore and celebrate the tactility of paint and immerse the viewer into this world.

Curated by Siying Zhou
Envisioning Gods presents a broad perspective and diverse voices examining the subject of spirituality and beliefs in modern societies. It draws attention to and re-appraises the value of wishful thinking, heroic culture, biotechnology, Zen and Christianity through six individual works: a drawing of a personal memory on a religious event; a sculptural installation that offers a ritualistic experience to the audience; a metaphoric photographic image; a stencil painting that reveals the banality of the daily lives of superheros; a fetish altar with leather constructions; a series of blueprints on boards that depict half human hybrid creatures. Envisioning Gods intends to engage audiences both visually and physically.
